Ethiopia
By Mima
In lands of ancient mystique and primeval grace,
Where legends whisper of a storied place,
There lies a nation, Ethiopia, bold and free, diverse and rare
Come and see a country beauty beyond compare.
In the beautiful highlands, where the Semen peaks,
Stretch towards the heavens, as if to speak,
Where spiritual Queen’s wisdom graced the throne,
And legendary brave warrior King’s spirit forever shone.
Adventurous tales of Ethiopian’s treasures,
Carved into mountains, grace beyond measures,
African Jerusalem, a sacred land,
Where faith and devotion forever hand in hand.
Ethiopia, the cradle of humankind,
Where lucy’s bones unveiled secrets entwined,
Ancient civilizations left their mark,
In rock-hewn churches, monuments stark.
Colourful languages dances upon the breeze,
Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya, melodies that appease.
Words blend like artistic colour palette,
Expressing hopes and dreams, never to forget.
Full of variety cultural foods , even on the streets,
Shared with smiles, where friendship meets.
From doro wat to kitfo, the flavors divine.
Awakening taste buds, in every bite, a sign
But in this tale of triumph and might,
We must also face the darkness of the night,
For Ethiopia, courageous and strong,
Has faced its share of adversity, long.
Colonial chains and struggles fought,
Independence gained, and battles sought,
Ethiopia’s spirit, steady and bright,
Will always win out through adversity, shining with light.
My mother land Ethiopia, her beauty transcends,
Through art, food, and customs, she sends.
An invitation to all, come and partake,
In the enchantment of a culture that awake.
You wont miss it, it’s the rare jewel in Africa’s crown,
Where vibrant cultures forever abound.
